CERGE-EI’s innovative Projects in Applied Economics for Talented High School Students has received support from the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for the fourth time. This program introduces high school students to economics and economic research, as well as illustrating how economics can help them achieve a better understanding of society. Several of CERGE-EI’s alumnae shared their experiences with student colleagues on applying to the academic job market and getting their work published (see project website). This event drew not only CERGE-EI students but also students from other Charles University faculties, illustrating the great value of this program and the need to broaden it. All of us here at CERGE-EI as well as all members of the wider CERGE-EI community mourn the death of Alan B. Krueger, long time CERGE-EI Executive and Supervisory Committee (ESC) member and renowned labor economist, who passed away on March 16, 2019. Among his many accomplishments, Professor Krueger was an engaged member of the CERGE-EI community, who actively supported the development of the institution and its students. Read more
